We provide a platform from which activity professionals may address their particular needs in the area of standards, training, programming, legislation and professional communication.

MAAP Goals



  • To promote activity therapy as a profession and to provide appropriate educational opportunities.

  • To provide a forum of communication between activity professionals through the state of Michigan.

  • To improve and advance professionalism in the field of activities.

  • To promote knowledge, principles and techniques designed to continually upgrade activity programming.

  • To communicate with government agencies on policies relating to the field of activities and to provide input into formulating any changes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

M.A.A.P. was organized on August 1, 1983 by activity professionals throughout the State of Michigan. The organization promotes educational opportunities, personal development and the continuing excellence of activity programs in long-term care facilities, residential housing, adult day care and senior centers.

MAAP Code of Ethics

MAAP. promotes and provides appropriate educational opportunities specifically geared to the activities professional which address the needs of the people it serves.

Members must meet standards as indicated in the by-laws, Article 3, Section 1. In addition, members are expected to maintain the following Code of Ethics:

  • Continued learning and self-improvement

  • Adhere to Michigan resident Bill of Rights

  • Be a resident advocate

  • Initiate and promote the activities profession both within the workplace as well as to the general public

Grounds for disassociation from MAAP :

  • Misrepresentation of MAAP

  • Misrepresentation of personal credentials

  • Misuse of funds

  • Violation of residents rights

Failure to comply with the Code of Ethics will result in membership withdrawal and additional disciplinary action as deemed necessary by the executive council, if needed.
